From Finance Student to Franchise Resource: Our CEO’s Journey of Building a Franchise-Focused Service

Luke Towey, our CEO, didn’t start his career expecting to become a key resource in the franchising world. With a degree in finance and accounting, Luke initially took on various controller-type roles, eager to build his expertise. But everything changed when a call came from a long-time friend, offering him a position at a then-small Health & Wellness franchise brand. This opportunity marked Luke’s entry into the fast-paced world of franchising.

Early Lessons in Franchising

At the Health & Wellness franchise brand, Luke gained valuable experience on the franchisor side, working closely with franchisees on their accounting and finance needs. His interest in franchising was further fueled by his family’s ownership of an Anytime Fitness franchise. These dual experiences gave him insights into both sides of the franchising equation.

A Light Bulb Moment

Luke’s deep understanding of franchise systems led him to see a significant gap in the market. Many franchisees were overwhelmed by the financial reporting process, often delaying the submission of necessary documents.

“The franchisor side was like, why can’t we make this more streamlined for the franchisees? They don’t want to spend their time doing this,” Luke recalls.

He realized that by simplifying access to necessary systems—like CRM and point-of-sale platforms—his team could take on the heavy lifting, allowing franchisees to focus on what they do best: running their businesses.

“We knew that standardizing processes, using the same chart of accounts, and coding things consistently could save time and reduce headaches for everyone involved,” Luke explains.

Building a Franchise-Focused Service

After leaving the Health & Wellness franchise brand, Luke worked in an investment fund, but his connection to franchising wasn’t over.

Franchisees reached out to him for help with their bookkeeping, which quickly grew into a larger business. Luke’s approach was simple: become an extension of the franchisor’s team, offering a turnkey financial solution that’s easy for franchisees to use. 

“We wanted to partner with the franchisor and grow with them, providing value by understanding their systems inside and out,” Luke says.
